Honeywell Unveils AI-Enabled Technology to Personalize In-Store Shopping with Google Cloud

NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Honeywell (Nasdaq: HON) today announced the launch of an AI-enabled retail solution developed in collaboration with Google Cloud and 66degrees. Powered by Google’s Gemini models and Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, the new Smart Shopping Platform is designed to transform the in-store shopping experience for retailers worldwide.

The platform helps shoppers quickly locate products, compare similar items, and identify relevant substitutions when products are unavailable—making in-store shopping more efficient, intuitive, and enjoyable.

“There is nothing more frustrating than roaming through a store unable to find the last item on your grocery list or forgetting a key part needed to complete a home repair,” said David Barker, president of Honeywell Productivity Solutions and Services. “The Smart Shopping Platform directly addresses these pain points, delivering a better experience for shoppers while giving retailers an out-of-the-box AI solution they can deploy without maintaining an in-house team of AI experts.”

A cloud-based solution, the Smart Shopping Platform creates a seamless connection between a retailer’s digital data and the physical store environment. Built on Honeywell’s Mobility Edge™ hardware and software platform and enabled by Google Cloud’s AI technologies, the solution delivers personalized guidance, real-time product information, and dynamic recommendations—bringing the convenience of online shopping into the store.

“By using Google Cloud’s AI, the Smart Shopping Platform transforms Honeywell devices into intelligent companions for both shoppers and store associates,” said Jose Gomes, vice president, Retail and Consumer Packaged Goods, Google Cloud. “This collaboration combines AI with purpose-built hardware to streamline in-store operations and guide customers through a more efficient and delightful shopping journey—helping retailers increase basket size while strengthening customer loyalty.”

When accessed on Honeywell Android devices such as the CS32 Personal Shopper, consumers can link their loyalty accounts to instantly receive personalized recommendations based on purchase history, stated preferences, complementary products, and available promotions. The platform also provides step-by-step navigation to help customers quickly find items throughout the store. If a product is out of stock, AI-powered recommendations suggest suitable alternatives, mirroring the convenience of e-commerce.

The solution also empowers retail associates to serve as in-store experts. Employees equipped with devices such as the Honeywell CT70 can use the Smart Shopping Platform to deliver fast, tailored guidance and insights to shoppers—for example, identifying the new location of a customer’s favorite dairy-free cereal. Today, Honeywell devices like the CT70 are used by thousands of retail associates across major grocery chains, big-box stores, specialty retailers, and department stores.

This launch builds on Honeywell’s ongoing collaboration with Google Cloud to advance computing solutions across multiple industries. The Smart Shopping Platform will be available to customers beginning February 2026.
